A recipe tells you how. Mine tell you what happens next.

Most cookbooks will tell you how long to roast the thing and leave you standing there holding it. Every recipe in Appetite for Seduction: Activating Your Sensuality comes with a scene. Here are the five dishes you'll get, and the scene that goes with each one, exactly as it's printed in the book.

Make Your Move Charcuterie Board

No oven, no timer, nothing to wreck. Just soft cheese going warm at the edges and somebody in your kitchen deciding what to try first.

When?On the third date, if you’re NOT ready to sleep together. Invite your new “amour” to your home BEFORE dinner. By inviting someone into your home, you are opening yourself to them- to the inside of your life. By doing this BEFORE dinner, you are sharing a part of yourself without sharing your body.

Sexy Brie Bites

The pastry shattering at the edges, the brie still running into the fig. Try to tell me you’re sharing.

Who?Your Lover whose love language is touch. When in an intimate relationship, people with this love language need to feel skin against skin, and they use every part of their body to express what they feel. Apply this knowledge to what you make for them to eat. These Brie Bites pack a litany of textures in each bite. The puff pastry is crisp and flakey; the cheese is warm and gooey; the nuts are hard and crunchy; the jam is smooth and viscous. Imagine how excited their tongues will be!

Mexican Style Street Corn

Smoke off the grill, butter down your wrist, cotija stuck to everything it touches. There is no polite way to eat this, which is the whole point.

How?Go crazy! Dive into it typewriter style, around and around or without a game plan. Squeeze a bit of lime on it and get into it! Be ready to help your lover clean up with soft kisses that also clean up their messy, cheesy face.

Three Minute Quickie Crispy Skin Salmon

The skin blistering under the broiler while the wine hisses in the pan. You have better things to do with the rest of the night.

When? You need a fast dinner! Salmon cooks in just minutes and is blessed by Venus- so it’s a healthy, delicious and easy meal sent to us by the Goddess of Love!

Gooey S’mores

Dark chocolate gone soft, graham cracker still warm under your thumb. You’ve been eating these since you were nine. You’ve never eaten them like this.

Where?Take it outdoors. Create a romantic camp scene on your lawn or your apartment roof-top. Lay down a blanket or two, place candles and lanterns around your area. If you have a fire pit- use that! Add pillows for seating and another blanket or sleeping bag for cuddling. If you have a grill, fire it up! Assemble the s’mores, wrap them in foil and put them on the grill or use spears and toast the marshmallows over the candles. Fresh air, stars, and chocolate is the perfect recipe for love!

Who this is for

Anyone cooking for someone they'd like to keep looking at across the table. A third date, a long marriage, a Tuesday that wants a little heat. No cooking skills needed.

I'm Shani Delamor. For eight years I taught couples to cook together in New York, and you may have caught me on Food Network, CBS or Married at First Sight. These five come from my book. Try one. It just might lead to something...

Where should I send them?
